How we verify every program
Every rate, credit, cap and deadline on this site should trace back to an official source. Here is how we keep it that way.
Official sources only
A claim counts as verified only when an official source confirms it: the state energy office or revenue department, the public utility commission, the program administrator, the utility's filed tariff, the IRS, or the statute itself. Aggregators and news stories can tell us something may have changed, but they never verify a claim on their own.
Checked every day
Fast-changing details such as rates, budgets and deadlines are checked daily. Each state guide also gets a full review every week, and deadlines are tracked with countdowns as they approach.
When sources disagree
If official sources conflict, we do not guess or average. We remove the number, describe the program in general terms, and keep checking until an official source settles it.
Estimates
Payback periods and annual savings shown on state pages are rough estimates for a typical home system. Your results depend on your system size, cost, electricity use, utility rate plan and roof, so treat them as a starting point and confirm with installer quotes.
Not financial, tax or legal advice
This site is for general information. Confirm eligibility with the program administrator and a qualified tax professional before relying on any incentive.
